In 2016 Hyland Hills Ski area completed a $13.3 million double the size of the previous Chalet. The new chalet is 36,000 sf. of interior space for gathering and includes a gear shop, rentals and restaurant. A Sustainable Design Strategies includes a sustainable site with minimal disturbance to existing land and solar reflectance roofing; Energy & Atmosphere with high efficiency heating and cooling equipment, high performance thermal envelope, LED lighting energy recovery and occupancy sensing; Indoor Environmental Quality with low-emitting materials, strong indoor/outdoor relationship through views, daylight and operable windows; Innovation in Design, with modularity of materials to reduce waste, timeless design minimizes the need to remodel due to aesthetic trends, low maintenance and durable materials; materials are reduced by exposing infrastructure.
